Alphonse Island, Seychelles

Our experience on Alphonse Island was reminiscent of Neverland, putting on a snorkel mask and dipping my head under the surface opened my eyes to limitless possibilities to be conquered on the fly. Tropical fish seem to be surrounding each footstep while wading for species and life-listers around the Athol’s of the islands.  Alphonse Island Resort not only offers some of the best fishing in the world but some of the most picturesque and unique accommodations that we’ve ever visited.

We've teamed up with Flyfish Seychelles to offer the best weeks of the 2010 and 2011 seasons.  Anglers and non-anglers alike stay in magnificent A-frame chalets on the shore of Alphonse Island.  Five star meals are noshed in the main restaurant of the resort just a short walk or leisurely bike ride away.  For the 2010-2011 season, they have one of the strongest guide teams to date led by Devan Van Der Merwe and Serge Samson.  Each fishing day, anglers depart on the Tam Tam mothership to Saint Francois and Bijoutier Athols where they then board Dolphin and Maverick flats skiffs.  Fishing around these Athol’s is comprised of wade fishing with a bit skiff fishing as well.  Anglers should expect to have multiple opportunities daily at milkfish, trevally, bonefish, and triggerfish as they are the staples of this fishery.

Getting to and from Alphonse Island from the States requires a bit of extra time and planning, but it’s more than worth the effort once you factor in the fishery and fine accommodations.
